Press Pic... Awaiting A-Level Results
posted on 06/03/2008 12 PM
This shot was used as my Picture of the Month back in August 2006. I
remember we went out to interview several teenagers about their
expectations for forthcoming A-Level results. My hope was to get a
feeling of apprehension on the subjects faces while awaiting their
results to be posted.
Unfortunately they didn't have a useable letterbox so we tried the
nearby home of one of the groups grandparents. The two difficulties in
this shot were including all the subjects within a very small space and
lighting their faces. Being outside, my side of the door was very
bright whereas inside was very dark. I solved the problem by using a
remotely-fired flashgun inside, immediately below the letterplate. The
light coming from below enhanced the look of foreboding and the
students' expressions were perfect.
