In all my years living in Guernsey, I'd rarely seen this particular view of St Peter Port's Old Quarter and never realized its photographic potential. Once I had, I decided the light would only work during 2 particular times of year, as the rising sun sweeps up the relatively narrow valley of town behind, camera left. I remember waiting for what seemed like hours for the sun to climb high-enough to illuminate the rooftops directly, and worrying it would be too harsh once it had. I needn't have worried.
